OUR VINEYARD

Great wine—and everything we do—starts in the vineyard.

It’s a saying you’ve heard before, and it’s one that rings true to us. Many wineries talk about wines being made in the vineyard. At Cooper, we have the honor and responsibility of farming the land ourselves. We believe that this connection to the dirt, the everyday touchpoints of the growing season—is what makes our wines a truly authentic representation of our piece of land. It goes beyond land ownership, to true stewardship.

Our 45 estate-farmed acres sit on the corner of Sunset Road, the gateway to the Red Mountain region. We planted this land with the intention of growing world-class wine grapes in what we regard to be Washington State’s most compelling region. However, it was equally important to create a unique, beautiful property, with meandering roads to explore the vines and special places to host our winery guests. Cooper Estate Vineyard was designed and planted to make great wine and also to offer an immersive experience—from vineyard tours, to summer dinners, to evenings by the CoopRV firepit.

simply Put, we believe in Red Mountain.

Our decision to put down roots in this winegrowing region and our commitment to exclusively focus on Red Mountain wines is intentional. The unique conditions of our small AVA create wines that are truly distinct. This land, and our specific position at the base of the hill, is an ideal environment for growing Bordeaux varietals. The combination of soils, daytime heat countered by nighttime low temperatures, low rainfall and persistent wind create the characteristics we are looking for from the grapes. It all adds up to depth, complexity, and balance in our wines. And, above all, distinctive character.
